Job Description
The Public Health Informatics Expert will ensure the implementation of health informatics best practices in alignment with donor, UMB and country policies and procedures
- Design and lead project initiatives and technical assistance related to HIS
- Integrate into all electronic systems functionality to support the PEPFAR, including CDC, interventions to find unidentified HIV-positive individuals, patients who are not retained in care, and patients with unsuppressed viral load, such as Voluntary Assisted Partner Notification (VAPN) and Back-to-Care (B2C) programs
- Extend EMR features
- Maintain and modernize the existing POC and retrospective EMR modules
- Integrate POC and retrospective EMR modules with other electronic systems to ensure data is entered once at the point of service and available electronically to all other systems
- Oversee health informatics assessments and development of solutions to address gaps identified
- Develop a plan for capacity building of the facility, district, regional and national ministry staff in implementing health informatics
- Meet with eHealth, QI and Data Leads routinely to determine the most appropriate informatics tool(s) and methods of integration and correction
- Establish requirements of data sets for analysis, data dictionaries, metadata and dashboards
- Provide technical assistance in health informatics at national, district and facility level,
- Oversee the development and implementation of annual work plans for health informatics components
- Support M&E planning to answer key questions including assisting in the development and tracking of indicators
- Coordinate and collaborate with the various partners /stakeholders
Qualifications:
MS in epidemiology or microbiology or MPH or computer science.
At least 7 years’ experience in implementing HIS programs, with at least 3 focused on HIV.
Experience in utilizing enterprise development lifecycle stages and documentation to manage large-scale, robust, integrated health systems development
