Job Description

Disabled Women in Development (DIWODE) is a membership Disabled Person Organisation for women and girls with all types of disabilities in Malawi. Since its established in 1996 and subsequent registration with Malawi Government under the Trustees Incorporation Act in November 1999. We aim to advocate and Lobby for the attainment of inclusive society, provide services that are demanded by disabled women and girls in their bid to equally enjoy their rights, economic empowerment, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, human rights gender issues, inclusive education for disabled girls and capacity building.

Position:  Project Finance Officer

Project: The program sets out to ensure that vocational training, economic empowerment and social protection programs in the Salima and Zomba districts of Malawi are inclusive of women and girls with disabilities.

Responsible to:

Working hours: 40 hours

Contract:          Full time, 10-month contract renewable upon availability of funds

Location:          Chirimba, Blantyre.

Purpose of Job

  • Providing financial and administrative support to stakeholders (employees, partners and targeted beneficiaries of the project)
  • Ensure timely production of financial reports to donors
  • Support budget preparation with program teams
  • Ensure compliance of laws and regulations

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of vouchers for payments
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation
  • Prepare balance sheets
  • Keep accurate records for all daily transaction
  • Assist with budget preparation
  • Manages and files all documentation pertaining to the project
  • Prepare finance reports for the relevant donor as and when required
  • Budgetary and monitoring control so that spending is within budget
  • Advising project teams, the terms of all donor funded activities

Qualification and Experience

  • At least two (2) years of experience in finance and Accounting in a donor funded project
  • Certificate in financial Accounting from an accredited Institution. Those with diploma will have an added advantage
  • Knowledge in accounting packages e.g. excel
  • Fluency in English.
