Job Description

Center for the Development of People (CEDEP) is a registered human rights organization dedicated to addressing the needs, improving the lives, and providing support for some of Malawi’s most neglected minority groups through civic education, training, capacity building, networking and research. The mission of CEDEP is to create an enabling environment and protect the wellbeing of sexual minorities and other vulnerable groups.

Center for the Development of People will be implementing a Five Year USAID/PEPFAR funded “Peer Solutions for Epidemic Control” (PROTECT) Project. The Project will continue implementing interventions aimed at breaking through outstanding barriers to achieving 95-95-95 goals among key and priority populations (KPs). The activity will be implemented in four PEPFAR priority districts of Blantyre, Mangochi, Lilongwe and Mzimba. PROTECT will continue to create and strengthen district-based community systems of comprehensive and high-quality services provided by the public health system, Drop In Centres (DICs) and private partners.

Therefore, Center for the Development of People is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced Malawians for the Position of Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Assistant in
Lilongwe, Mangochi, Blantyre and Mzimba (Mzuzu) Districts

Position : Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Assistant.
Supervisor: M&E Coordinator
Location: Blantyre, Mangochi, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
Reporting Date : October 2020.

Position Purpose
Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant (s) will be working under the direct supervision of the M&E Coordinator and in close coordination with the Project District Coordinators. One will be mainly responsible for data collection, entry and support towards M&E System.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information; establishing entry priorities.
  • Processes source documents by reviewing data for deficiencies; resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to responsible officer for resolution.
  • Enters program data in a timely and efficient way, adhering to established deadlines.
  • Maintains data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures.
  • Verifies entered data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data, purging files to eliminate duplication of data in consultations with the M&E Officer and Program Manager
  • Support the collection of data from designated hotspots and Health facilities on a monthly basis
  • Tests system changes and upgrades where necessary by inputting new data; reviewing output.
  • Secures information by completing data base backups.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Maintains clients and CEDEP partners’ confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Support the M&E Officer in generating standardized reports for program management on a monthly/quarterly basis, as appropriate.
  • Willing to travel at least 30% of the time within his/her allocated district
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold a Diploma in Information Technology or any related qualification
  • A minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience in monitoring, including data collection and data management.
  • Good command of SPSS, Excel and Microsoft Word and have experience using databases
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with Monitoring & Evaluation for USAID-funded projects desired.
  • Excellent oral and writing skills in English and Chichewa.
