    Job Description

    Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) is a statutory organization established in 1972 by an Act of Parliament Chapter 51:02 (revised as Act No. 14 of 2012) with a mandate to promote metrology, standardization and quality assurance of commodities and of their manufacture, production, processing or treatment; and further to provide for matters incidental to, or connected with standardization.

    The MBS is also mandated to provide metrology facilitation which involves calibration of weighing and measuring instruments undertaken through the implementation of the Metrology Act (Act No. 10 of 2016).

    Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants to fill the following positions available at its Lilongwe Regional Office:

    Laboratory Assistant

    Job Purpose

    To keep the laboratory environment clean.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Cleaning laboratory apparatus and equipment;
    2. Sweeping, mopping and dusting the laboratory;
    3. Washing and pressing laboratory coats;
    4. Initiating disposal of obsolete samples and waste;
    5. Preparing samples for physical and chemical testing and
    6. Writing weekly reports of activities.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Applicants must possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education with at least two (2) years of experience in laboratory environment.
