Job Description

A well-known renewable energy IPP, whose focus is on harnessing energy in emerging markets, is looking for a strong-willed and exceptionally well-networked Country Manager, who not only is intuitive but also has proven experience managing the overall performance of operating projects in Africa.

Your focus will be on leveraging your existing networks in Malawi – of which Escom is vital. This means that you will need 6+ years’ experience in a power generation organisation and having acquired an MBA (ideally), coupled with a Finance or Engineering degree that will provide you with the necessary skills to successfully represent the company’s interests.

If you are the right candidate for this role, you will find yourself developing and maintaining relationships with various key stakeholders, including embassies, donors, and ministries, for the Malawian team.

Therefore, an individual with a disciplined personality that has already built up strong connections within the market is non-negotiable and will ensure that you are effectively able to use those connections to interact with the right people from the get-go to sort out any issues or potential delays or late payments that may arise.

You will be working closely with the CFO and the Operation Plant Manager as these two functions overlap and this role will require you to oversee the current and future operational assets.

Your ability to expedite executive decision-making processes all whilst safeguarding compliance requirements and the integrity of the brand will set you out as a valuable player in the company, quickly climbing the corporate ladder.

In addition, this position will require you to manage the Public Relations aspect for the firm and be the face of their projects while supporting and leading those working with you into meeting their objectives.

This shows that you are able to wear many hats within the business and are customised to switching it up whenever the situation calls for it.

You must be a strong negotiator to ensure that legalities and PPA’s financial models are as expected in order to drive and ROI for the firm.

Our client values a cultural fit on both a corporate and local level with individuals giving it their all in a fast-paced environment – NO SLACKERS ALLOWED.

You must be entrepreneurially minded if you are going to fit into the team culture.

If you share their passion for renewables and can deliver through sound management as their Country Manager, this is your chance! Apply now!!
