Job Description

The African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) is a non governmental organization whose main mandate Is to promote the role of businesses in building resilient communities and sustainable businesses through partnerships. AICC’s uniqueness is the capacity to engage and bring on board the private sector in development. AICC specializes in in acting as a catalyst and facilitator of change; as a broker and initiator of multi-sector partnerships and platforms; and as a knowledge management hub for Issues relating to the role of responsible business in African societies. Since Its establishment, AICC has among others engaged In capacity building, research and facilitation of multi stake holder processes that bring together businesses, government and the civil society for collective actions to address sustainability challenges

ACC had entered Into a partnership agreement with WE Effect to implement a Sustainable Cotton for Women and Youth Empowerment (SCOWOYE) which Is aimed at contributing to the reduction of poverty and injustice through improved productivity in the Cotton Subsector. The project is expected to commence in May 2020 and will be implemented in four districts of Chikwawa, Balaka, Mangochi and Salima. It Is in this regard that AICC wishes to engage the services of qualified, experienced and dynamic persons to fill the positions of Field Officers (4 posts).

Position: FIELD OFFICERS (4 Positions)

The Field Officer will provide support and create a balance in the time and scope of implementing the SCOWOYE project at community level under the direct supervision of the project officer within the organization. She/he will report directly to the Project Officer for the SCOWOVE project.

Function and Responsibilities

The following will be tasks to be performed by Field Officer

  • Conduct community mobilization/sensitization to ensure support for and participation in the AAI, Legumes, Cotton or Rice platforms by community beneficiaries, leaders, other partners, communities especially women and the youth
  • Prepare work plans/work schedules for all planned activities and ensure these are submitted to project officers for approval as per agreed overall work plan.
  • Keep updated attendance registers of training sessions, women and Youth attending activities, and all outreach activates
  • Conduct community mobilization and sensitization programmes, to ensure maximum participation of women and young people and the communes
  • Work with Platform project officers to sensitize the stakeholders and the target communities about the SCOWOYE Project objectives
  • Work with platform project officers to plan and organise events, activities and sessions relating to Youth Livelihoods, employment creation, entrepreneurship and skills training
  • Work with other stakeholders, local community leaders and other community stakeholders to identify and address issues affecting project delivery
  • Collect and collate/compile monthly. quarterly or any reports and data required information relating to the programme and submit this to the project officer in time
  • Build and maintain positive working relations with local development partners in support of AAI, Cotton, Legumes and Rice programmes in the assigned project area
  • Network with other key partners – NGOs, CBOs, Government departments and key community members at district levels to ensure that the programme is fully supported at community level

Experience and Competences Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness Social Sciences or any Development Related field
  • Experience in mobilizing communities, community leaders and young people to participate in programmes
  • Strong facilitation skills, good report writing skits
  • Knowledge and familiarity with data collection tools and techniques
  • Experience of budgeting and handling finances to deliver project activities
  • Strong problem solving skills appropriate for community partners
  • Computer literacy (word, excel, power point, web and outlook)
  • Ability to motivate and support young people
  • An ability to plan/schedule work activities independently with minimum supervision
