Nascent Solutions (Nascent) is a Virginia-based 501(c) (3) non-profit international development organization. Its mission is to enable vulnerable people, especially women and children in rural Africa, to develop skills for self-sufficiency. The organization’s areas of focus are food security and nutrition, health, education and skills development, and gender equity. With funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Nascent Solutions is implementing a five year McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Project in Malawi in six districts covering 106 schools.
ROLE PURPOSE
Nascent Solutions is seeking a Temporary Construction Supervisor to support the renovation and in some cases building of new school kitchens, storerooms and feeding shelters in some selected Nascent Solutions impact schools in the country. The Temporary Construction Supervisor will work in collaboration with the Nascent project technical staff, Ministry of Education officials at national and district assembly level, school management committees and community members.
The Construction Supervisor shall be responsible for monitoring and supervising construction and renovations of kitchens, storerooms and feeding shelters in Nascent Solution’s target schools in Chiradzulu, Mulanje and Thyolo in the Southern region and Ntcheu, Lilongwe and Kasungu in the Central region. The Construction Supervisor shall be responsible for quality assurance; providing technical support to the contactors and their workers; by ensuring construction according to the set technical specifications, bills of quantities; ensuring quality of workmanship and timely completion of construction and renovation activities.
