    Job Description

    AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is s legally registered, not-for-profit NGO working in partnership with the Government of Malawi through its Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), to expand HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) services.

    AHF is supporting nineteen health facilities across four districts of Chikwawa, Dedza, Ntcheu and Lilongwe districts. Almost all the facilities have inadequate space, are old and require refurbishment in order to create additional space for HIV services.

    AHF Malawi renovated some of the facilities in the past two years, and will this year invest its resources in expanding St Montfort and Bereu Health Centers in Chikwawa district. We also intend to construct incinerators for Mapelera and Chipwaila HCs in the same district of Chakwawa.

    The organization would like to recruit services of a Short Term Renovation Supervisor with Architectural and Quantity Surveying experience to technically oversee and guide AHF Malawi in its renovations work between May and October 2020.

    2. 2020 Scope of Work for the Short Term Renovations Supervisor

    • Produce architectural drawings for the works st Bereu, St Montfort, Mapelera and Chipwaila HCs and facilitate approval of the same by Chikwawa District Council
    • Produce Bill of Quantities for extending St Montfort and Bereu Health Centers
    • Produce Bill of Quantities for construction of two incinerators, one at Mapelera and another one at Chipwaila HC
    • Support AHF Malawi in identifying and engagement of contractor who will carry out the works in the four facilities
    • Liaise with the District Health Management Teams (DHMT) and AHF procurement team in drafting terms of reference for the selected contractors
    • Coordinate with the DHMT and AHF in overseeing construction works in the four facilities until completion
    • Support AHF Malawi in processing payment certificates for the contractors
    • Troubleshoot problems in the course of the work. Refer complicated sues to the DHMT and AHF for guidance and direction.
    • Represent AHF at site level at critical milestones of the construction works.
      Other tasks
    • AHF might from time to time request the Renovations supervising Officer to support /advise the program team on areas requiring his expertise.

    Deliverables

    Four Bills of Quantities produced ~Two for Bereu and St Montfort clinic extensions and two for Chipwaila and Mapelera incinerators
    Four architectural drawings produced for the above named facilities
    Three contractors identified and engaged. Two contractors to work on St Montfort and Bereu
    Terms of references for the contractors drafted and shared with health management teams and AHF for input and guidance
    At least six supervision visits made to each construction site in the course of the construction work
    Smooth completion of construction work at the above named sites.
    AHF representation at site level
    Strong linkage and collaboration with DHOs’ maintenance team whenever necessary in the course of contract.

    Duration of contract

    Six months with possibility of renewal

    Qualifications

    -Bachelor Science in Architecture with over five years’ experience in overseeing projects or similar nature, quantity surveying experience will be an added advantage.
    -Diploma in Architecture with over 10 year’s relevant experience, quantity surveying experience will be an added advantage.

    -Detailed reputable referees for projects supervised.
