Job Description

National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi (NONM) in partnership with Norwegian Nurses Organisation (NNO) funded by Norad plans to re-develop/create, launch, and operate a website as part of its project “Closing the gap: Sufficient, competent and motivated nurses and midwives”.

Key deliverables for the assignment include:

  • Web-design and content-design through online (skype) training facilitated by NNO and external expert support.
  • Content developed, updated weekly and timely disseminated.
  • Content management guidelines developed and adopted.
  • Facilitate training/orientation of other staff in content upload and management.

In order to achieve this assignment, Website Development and Management, the project intends to recruit 2 Interns for a time-frame of 12 months, with possibility of extension. Therefore, applications are invited for the position of Communications — Nurse Intern (1), and Communications — Media Intern (1).

1.1 COMMUNICATIONS — NURSE INTERN
The Communications-Nurse Intern will be reporting to the Executive Director, and expected to achieve outputs and milestones in the approved work-plan. Interested applicants should fulfil the following specifications:

1.1 Personal Specification
Nurse-midwife Graduate (Unemployed) with Bachelors’ Degree Basic knowledge, skills and passionate about ICT i.e. computer packages, internet and website Communication knowledge and skills in writing and editing Report writing knowledge, skills, and passion Research knowledge and skills.

1.2 Job Description

  • Website content development — write stories, position papers/statement
  • Website content uploading
  • Professional content draft for review by seniors and content experts
  • Support/liaise/facilitate provision of latest professional content i.e. CPD Online.

COMMUNICATIONS — MEDIA INTERN
The Communications-Media Intern will be reporting to the Executive Director, and expected to achieve outputs and milestones in the approved work-plan. Interested applicants should fulfil the following specifications:

2.1 Job specification

  • Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations field_ Graduate (Unemployed) with Bachelors’ Degree.
  • Basic knowledge, skills and passionate about ICT i.e. computer packages, internet and website.
  • Communication knowledge and skills in writing and editing.
  • Report writing knowledge, skills, and passion, Research knowledge and skills.

2.2 Job description

  • Collect information using variety of media and strategies.
  • Customize website content for relevant audience and media including social media.
  • Prepare draft position statements and press releases for publicity in local media and website.
  • Disseminate information to variety of media after authorization.
  • Liaison with the media — media houses, media personnel.
