    Job Description

    The Sustainable Food Systems for Rural Resilience and Transformation [TRANSFORM] program is a four-year program funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy with initial one-year inception phase and thereafter a three-year agreement. The program will be coordinated by three Norwegian organizations namely the Norwegian Church Aid [NCA], the Development Fund of Norway [DF], and Norwegian University of Life Sciences [NMBU]. The overall objective is to strengthen local food systems in selected Extension Planning Areas [EPAs] in five of Malawi’s rural districts and to demonstrate a sustainable improvement of food and nutrition security, resilience to climate change and income among agriculture- dependent rural households. By increasing resilience to climate change, diversifying agriculture production, developing new value chains and closing the gender gap in agriculture, the program will contribute towards transformation of the agricultural sector in Malawi.

    Assemblies of God Care [AG Care], a partner of NCA, is Christian registered organization under the Trustees Incorporation Act. AG Care works through locally established structures and churches in empowering local communities in addressing developmental challenges. AG Care work includes; Agriculture, Health, Environment and Natural Resources Management and Relief Coordination.

    Assemblies of God Care now seeks to recruit for the position of:

    Job Title: Finance Officer (2 posts)

    Reporting to: Project Manager

    Location: Lilongwe and Mchinji/Kasungu districts

    Qualifications: Minimum Diploma in Accounting

    Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience

    Key responsibilities

    • Responsible for verification of expenditure and implementation of corresponding payments and to ensure full compliance with financial management rules and requirement
    • Keeps all financial records and transactions relating to the TRANSFORM
    • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports/statements with standard accounting principles-including budget tracking and preparation of budget variance analysis
    • Liaises with the Procurement Officer] and Finance and Administration Manager to ensure optimum operations of the project
    • Supports internal and external auditing processes by providing all supporting documentation in an orderly and timely manner.
    • Ensures that all payment request forms, invoices, LPOs, receipts and any other payment documents are critically checked for accuracy and correctness
    • Ensures proper and accurate coding of expenditure on all primary documentation
    • Assumes full responsibility for ensuring cash books are up to date at the end of each working day.
    • Ensure detailed and accurate records of all financial transactions are maintained physically and electronically in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
    • Generate, review, track and manage Budget Vs Actuals report of expenditures
    • To perform any other duties that may be delegated by the Finance and Administration Manager.
