Job Description

Minet Malawi Insurance Brokers Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill in the above vacancy tenable at our Head Office in Blantyre.

This post has a dual reporting function to the Managing Director as well as the Group CFO and the successful individual will be expected to make a significant contribution in the delivery of quality services to our clients.


Role Description

Purpose of the Role

This post has a dual reporting function to the Managing Director and Group CFO and is responsible for directing the financial controls and reporting, to ensure compliance with all internal and external requirements. Financial controls and reporting responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading and directing finance team, SOX compliance, internal controls, US GAAP Reporting, Statutory reporting and financial statement analysis. The Finance Manager in country support a worldwide finance organization focused on delivering best-in-class processes and controls.


Responsibilities

  • Financial accounting including US GAAP and local statutory accounting.
  • Assist with requirements relating to internal and/or external audit
  • In country tax and/or treasury processes
  • Maintain an effective control environment.
  • Facilitate the process of streamlining financial reporting process
  • Create challenges and development opportunities for the finance team
  • Ensure the key accountabilities of the team are being successfully executed and meeting expectations
  • Understand and react to the broad business and strategic issues faced by management and the businesses.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • ACCA or an equivalent from a recognized accounting examining body.
  • Must have had 5 years plus post qualification experience in strategic financial management ideally gained in a listed financial services organisation

  • In-depth understanding of relevant regulatory requirements
  • Financial Services experience
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Strong tax knowledge, in particular for MW legislation
  • Experience of managing internal teams of finance professionals
  • Experience in driving change and influencing skills
  • Be fluent in English
  • Be able to work without immediate supervision and support
  • Be able to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Be able to work under pressure and never miss deadlines.

Salary payable is negotiable commensurate with one’s qualifications and experience.
