    Job Description

    Banja La Mtsogolo (BLM) is a Malawian Non-Governmental Healthcare Organization established in 1987. BLM provides quality Family Planning and Reproductive Healthcare including HIV/AIDS information and interventions. BLM is a senior member of the Marie Stopes International Partnership which works in 37 countries. BLM exists to improve quality of life in Malawi through family planning and reproductive health care services.

    BLM serves over 800,000 clients annually and makes a significant contribution to national family planning objectives. The organization has national coverage, operating through 26 clinics and over 460 outreach sites. To strengthen our service provision, we seek services of two Finance interns to help the department in delivering several support deliverables to BLM and its projects.

    In this regard applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of Finance Interns (2) existing in the organization at the support office in Lilongwe.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Assist in Stock reconciliations and updating of monthly stock movements
    2. Conduct monthly Debtors account reconciliation and update of customer accounts
    3. Preparing monthly Debtors Statements for all customers
    4. Following up of all outstanding debts from corporate and Insurance customers
    5. Fuel and other reconciliations
    6. Reviewing Invoices before being sent out to customers and filling copy invoices in designated files
    7. Processing of invoices to be sent to debtors by making sure that they are well supported and meet debtor specifications.
    8. Providing audit and review support
    9. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

    Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or any relevant field from an Institution of higher learning recognized by the National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) or a Diploma in Accounting from ICAM with 1 year experience.


    • Good reading and writing skills.
    • Strong grammar and spelling.
    • Conversant with Microsoft Office (computer software knowledge for financial management would be a plus)
    • Good communication.
    • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
    • The ability to concentrate for long periods of time and at odd hours.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Document filling skills.
    • Internet communication ability.
