Job Description

The Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) is an ecumenical umbrella association co-owned by Episcopal Conference of Malawi and Malawi Council of Churches. CHAM is the second largest provider of health services in Malawi and it has 179 health facilities and 11 training colleges, which are located in all parts of the country. Some of these health facilities are situated in remote and hard-to-reach areas. The objectives of CHAM are to facilitate, provide technical support, and develop health services among all its member facilities in order to achieve equity in access to health care, patient care and in all matters, to act for the benefit of the people of Malawi. CHAM wishes to recruit qualified and suitable persons in the following positions:


Grade: CS1
Department: Finance and Administration
Reports to: Finance Officer

Job Purpose:

To support the finance department and management in Finance Management services at CHAM.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Preparing payments.
  • Filing of payment vouchers and other finance documents.
  • Issuing of cheques.
  • Payment of salaries and accounting for salary related remittances.
  • Preparation and submission of periodic accounting returns by prescribed dates.
  • Liquidation of payments.
  • Cash receipting and banking of cash deposits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in accounting from an accredited institution with at least two years’ work experience in a donor funded project.

Requisite Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Good computer skills especially in respect of accounting packages
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, dynamic and creative
  • High level of integrity
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow up outstanding issues
  • Good team player
