Job Description

Médecins Sans Frontières, (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian organization working together with the Ministry of Health in Chiradzulu district on HIV program.

MSF-FRANCE is recruiting suitable candidate for the position of:

Clinical Officer for the “Enhanced Monitoring of Efavirenz to Dolutegravir Transition” (EMEDT) Study, based in Chiradzulu

General Duties:

  • Day to day follow up of EMEDT study participants currently on a Dolutegravir based first line regimen.
  • History taking and physical examination of study participants at each study visit
  • Requesting protocol required and other relevant laboratory tests at study visit dates
  • Diagnosis and treatment of HIV-associated opportunistic infections according to current Malawian standards of care
  • Prescription of study specific ARV and monitoring of ARV-related adverse events at study visits
  • Collection of clinical follow-up information and filling of case report forms (CRF)
  • Reference and counter reference of study patients who require further evaluation or hospitalisation
  • Coordination of daily activities of nursing and paramedical team
  • Compliance with MSF terms of conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned by the field principal investigator

Contract details

  • Three months contract: August to October 2020
  • Intended start date: August 2020


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential: Clinical officer diploma; registered with the Medical Council of Malawi
  • Minimum of two years’ relevant experience working in the field of HIV
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting
  • Previous experience in clinical research is an advantage
  • Previous working experience with MSF or another NGO is an advantage
  • Fluent in English and Chichewa, both written and oral
  • Empathetic, team player, committed and respectful
