Who we are

Charlie Goldsmith Associates (CGA) is a UK and Malawi-registered company established in working for the alleviation of poverty and promotion of human development using targeted, quality disaggregate data to support partners in practical administration and strengthen monitoring and management of information, resources and service delivery.

We have been active in Malawi since 2015, supporting basic services and information management systems in the social development and education sectors and with local government and are growing rapidly in terms of both the number of projects and the team we have working on them.

The job: Deputy Country Coordinator

The Deputy County Coordinator will work closely with the Country Coordinator to oversee in-country operations, manage ongoing projects and contribute to donor reporting and client management.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Project management support to ongoing programmes, including monitoring and review of project expenditure and review of written outputs such as donor/client reports
  • Provide ongoing support and to project teams to ensure high quality project implementation
  • Technical inputs to ongoing projects, as relevant
  • Represent CGA at client, donor and partner meetings
  • Work with the Business Development team to identify and pursue new opportunities as needed
  • Operations management and work with the Finance and Administration Officer to ensure compliance is kept up to date and in line with Malawian legal requirements.

For this role we are particularly interested in hearing from people with the following skills and interests:

  • Advanced University Degree in relevant disciplines (e.g. Education, Social protection, Public Administration, Computer Science),
  • At least 8 years’ experience in leading projects in relevant sectors, particularly education and social protection
  • Excellent writing and numerical skills
  • Ability to build solid working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and clients
  • Experience in working with monitoring and data management systems and/or cash programming (desirable)
  • Experience of preparing proposals and EOIs/SQs for a range of donors (desirable)
  • Commitment to developing and supporting junior team members
  • Adaptable & likeable (it’s a small team)
